Motopool's Initiative to Support and Raise Awareness for R U OK? Day
At Motopool, we pride ourselves on taking responsibility as part of the community, actively supporting mental health initiatives, and fostering a positive, engaged workforce. As part of this commitment, we recently partnered with the R U OK? Foundation to raise awareness and funds for mental health support. This initiative underscores our belief in community well-being and reinforces our core values of teamwork, integrity, and customer-first.
A Collective Effort: Surpassing Our Fundraising Goal
What began as a goal to raise $800 turned into an overwhelming success. Over the course of 10 weeks, from 1 July to 12 September, our Motopool team raised over $3,100, well above our target, thanks to the enthusiastic efforts of our employees and support from our customers. This achievement was driven by our ‘Subscribe for a Cause’ campaign, where we pledged $20 for every subscription during this period. It was an impactful and rewarding experience for our team, customers, and the community alike.
‘Subscribe for a Cause’ Campaign: Involving Our Customers
Our ‘Subscribe for a Cause’ campaign allowed us to engage with our customers, giving them a meaningful way to contribute to the cause. For each subscription signed up during the campaign period, Motopool donated $20 to the R U OK? Day Foundation. This not only allowed our customers to benefit from our flexible car subscription service but also to become part of something bigger—helping to raise awareness and support mental health initiatives in Australia.
Team Participation Across Australia
Our Motopool team across Australia took part in fun, engaging, and creative fundraising activities to raise awareness for R U OK? Day. Each location had its own unique take on how to contribute to the cause:
- Melbourne Team: Hosted a one-day coffee sale that invited colleagues and customers to enjoy freshly brewed coffee, all while contributing to mental health awareness. Every cup sold contributed to our fundraising goal and brought people together.
- Perth Team: The Perth team opted for an eco-friendly approach by collecting recycling items to be redeemed for $0.10 refunds. This initiative not only contributed to the fundraising effort but also aligned with Motopool’s commitment to sustainability. Every bottle or can collected was another step toward reaching our goal.
- Sydney Team: Focused on gathering donations from both employees and external partners. Their collective efforts helped raise awareness about the foundation while gathering significant donations.
- Brisbane Team: Always one to keep things lively, the Brisbane team introduced a ‘Swear Jar’ challenge in the office. Every time someone slipped up with a less-than-polite word, they had to contribute $1 to the jar. The playful approach fostered camaraderie and fun while working towards a serious cause.
- Adelaide Team: Introduced a playful twist by pledging a donation for each bottle of wine consumed during the fundraising period. This light-hearted approach helped raise additional funds and boosted team spirit.
Across all of our offices, the Motopool team participated in a company-wide pledge task, where employees made personal commitments to complete goals, with donations made for each task achieved. This sense of collective responsibility brought everyone together with a shared purpose.
Participating in the R U OK? Day Fun Run
In addition to our internal fundraising efforts, several members of the Motopool team participated in the R U OK? Day Fun Run, demonstrating our active support for the cause. Taking part in the fun run allowed us to raise further awareness of the importance of mental health, while also promoting physical fitness and well-being within our team. The fun run added a positive and energetic dimension to our fundraising efforts, allowing employees to connect outside of work in support of an important cause.
The Importance of Teamwork
This initiative wasn’t just about raising money—it was about coming together as a team to support mental health. Teamwork is one of Motopool’s core values, and our participation in R U OK? Day further solidified our belief that great things can be accomplished when people work together toward a common goal. The diverse activities carried out across our various teams highlighted the power of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit.
Our Ongoing Commitment to the Community
Motopool is committed to continuing its support of the R U OK? Day Foundation and other important causes that benefit the wider community. As a business, we recognise that mental health is a serious issue that impacts everyone, and we’re proud to take responsibility by contributing in meaningful ways. Our ‘Subscribe for a Cause’ campaign and team-led fundraising efforts have been a reflection of our dedication to making a positive difference, both inside and outside the workplace.
Moving forward, Motopool aims to incorporate further community-driven initiatives into our operations. As we continue to grow, our commitment to social responsibility will remain central to our business, ensuring we make a lasting impact on the community we serve.
